Work History
- Web Development Specialist (November 2004 - current)
OnYourMark, LLC I am responsible for creation of websites, including graphic design, programming, customer service and technical support, desktop publishing, search engine optimization and registration, all general webmastering, and documentation. Some of my work includes: WebForging, Dells TimberLand, Alladin Plastics Line and The Original Experience Dells Jet Boats (see the gallery for more) Liked best about this job: Being part of a well-knit team.
- Production Coordinator (May 2002 - October 2003)
The Milwaukee Employment Guide, a division of Trader Publishing I was responsible for anything production related in the office, which included layout of our products, The Employment Guide, Today's Careers and Today's Nurse, of the media kit, in-house use forms, etc, in a timely and accurate fashion. Supervised one graphic designer. Liked best about this job: I work best under a certain amount of pressure, and being the head of a department is just about the right amount of pressure. I enjoy having the chance to use what I know about print, and I feel like our product really made a difference to people. It's a good feeling.
- Design Specialist (January 1999 - April 2002)
The Review, a regional newspaper, centered in Plymouth, WI I created display ads for the paper and designed print projects, created logos for customers, made corrections and did layout projects for print customers, assisted in troubleshooting pagination process, created graphics as necessary, handled email duties for the Advertising department (including sending and receiving of ads and figuring out ways around format incompatibilities), computer maintenance and troubleshooting, hand collated sections of the paper twice a week, trained new people in our design process, often answered computer problems in other departments, occassionally responsible for outputting paginated pages to film for the press. Liked best about this job: I particularly enjoyed the combination of technical skill and artistic expression required to effectively create newspaper ads and layout print jobs. I enjoy finding ways to make the ink do what I want it to. We used a mix of digital desktop publishing and traditional cut and paste. Knowing each style of creation broadens my ability to solve problems in the other style.
- Sales Clerk (February 1998 - December 1998)
Corey's Jewelbox, Crossroads Mall, Kalamazoo, MI Liked best about this job: Watching the kaleidoscope of humanity in action. Working a kiosk in the hallway gave me the opportunity to study people, which has come in handy in my writing and acting. It also gave me direct reference to public reactions to different marketing techniques.
- Gift Shop Manager (August - December 1997)
Museum attendant (May - December 1997)
Wright Art and Logan Anthropology Museums, Beloit College, Beloit WI
Liked best about this job: I'm a bit of an armchair archaeologist, and I'm an artist, so what isn't to love about getting paid to wander around the museums, talking to visitors about the different exhibits?
